ABOUT THE Rampallion
Born and bred amidst the rolling hills of Virginia, in the nurturing embrace of two dedicated educators, Aurealia's childhood was a symphony of learning. But amidst the flashcards and lesson plans, a rogue copy of Bram Stoker's "Dracula" slipped into the mix, casting a long, intriguing shadow. Imagine: a precocious only child, devouring Victorian prose while secretly practicing dramatic cape flourishes in the hallway. While classmates were mastering fractions, ReRe was dissecting the psychology of vampirism, pondering the allure of the night, and wondering if garlic bread could be weaponized. These books are more than just a memoir; they are journeys through the delightfully skewed lens of a mind shaped by both academic rigor and the seductive whisper of gothic tales. It's a testament to the power of early influences, the enduring magic of classic literature, and the charmingly peculiar path that leads from a childhood spent between textbooks and the haunting allure of Transylvania to the creation of “It was the Cat”. Join Aurealia Nelson as they unravel the threads of a life lived between the light of the classroom and the captivating, twisted darkness of science fiction, fantasy and the written word.

Alright, buckle up buttercup, because apparently, my "solid background" in British English (as if Shakespeare himself was personally grooming me for this) and a dazzling portfolio of hard-hitting investigative pieces from the Midlothian Bugle (or whatever equally prestigious rag I graced with my prose) inexplicably landed me a gig as a Roving Reporter for the esteemed journalistic institution known as Hustler Magazine in the bygone era of 1999.
Yes, you read that right. It was, shall we say, a period of unparalleled intellectual stimulation. I tackled the pressing issues of the day, ranging from the profound insights of political discourse (as filtered through the highly nuanced lens of Larry Flynt) to the deeply philosophical chronicles of my so-called "adventures" (mostly involving questionable buffet choices and awkward encounters). And let's not forget my incisive coverage of highbrow cultural events like "DragonCon," where I'm sure my eloquent descriptions of Klingon cosplay truly elevated the discourse.
Honestly, it was the absolute pinnacle of my existence. A veritable rollercoaster of… well, let's just say "fascinating" individuals and "experiences" that undoubtedly broadened my "perspective" in ways my English professors could never have imagined. It truly "honed" my communication skills – mostly in the art of politely declining questionable offers and feigning deep interest in conversations about… never mind. And yes, it provided a truly "unique education" in politics – specifically, the intricate and deeply principled world of Larry Flynt's political leanings. A formative experience, to be sure. One I wouldn't trade for… well, maybe a slightly less… memorable first “journalism” job.

My books are a collection of darkly humorous tales, bizarre adventures, and satirical observations on the absurdity of life, and whatever else I feel like writing about- usually Psychology, the paranormal, Anthropology or Social Sciences, Spirituality/Religion. I run the gamut. If you like your humor with a twist of the unexpected and a dash of the surreal, then step right up and prepare to be entertained (and possibly slightly disturbed).

Yes, it actually IS. I was asked a long time ago the meaning of life.
And it really IS 42.
Seriously.
You heard it from me, second.

When I was a kid: I watched a movie called “HELL HOUSE”. That was my first horror movie. It scared me to death.
Then of course there was this election…and I’m just so over it.

Simple logic.
Perhaps the question isn't why I haven't, but rather, why should I? Does happiness truly lie in conforming to societal expectations, or in forging one's own path, however chaotic it may be?

Thing is, I don’t have just ONE:
Meeting Ed and Lorraine Warren and having and extended conversation with them in college
Meeting BB King as a child and playing “Lucille”- horribly.
Having dinner with THE GREAT Nikki Giovanni: of which I will ALWAYS remember the speech about the opossum.

Dark & Intoxicating …
The Velvet Cage is a haunting collection that delves into the shadows of human desires and the beauty found within decay. The landscapes painted in these stories are mesmerizing, blurring the lines between dreams and reality. The morally ambiguous characters add depth to each tale, grappling with forbidden desires and hidden truths. This tribute to Tanith Lee's daring prose is a must-read for those who crave dark and seductive stories that linger in the mind long after the last page is turned.

My writing truly runs the gamut—from the political to the peculiar, the humorous to the heartfelt, and the thought-provoking to the just plain silly. I've explored everything from the inner workings of Washington D.C. to the depths of a genie's despair (apparently, granting wishes is harder than it looks). I've even dabbled in the world of herbalism, though I still can't keep a houseplant alive. And the best part? I did it all without ever having to jog – because let's be honest, running is overrated.
